Open Call: Testing the EcoWellness Recharge Resource Book

Open Call: Testing the EcoWellness Recharge Resource Book

Over recent months, the EcoWellness Recharge partnership has been working on one of the central outputs of the project: the Resource Book, designed to accompany the Educational Programme and to give youth workers the confidence and background knowledge they need to use it.

Why a Resource Book?

The Educational Programme sets out how each session is delivered. The Resource Book explains the why: it offers the concepts, research and practical guidance that sit behind the activities. It is written for practitioners who may be approaching eco-anxiety for the first time, and it is intended to be clear, practical and easy to adapt.

Our needs assessment found that more than three quarters of the young people surveyed were not familiar with eco-anxiety, its related emotions or its causes. The Resource Book responds directly to this gap.

The Resource Book follows the six modules of the programme, which are aimed at young people aged 16–25 with a migration background:

From Understanding eco-anxiety, to recognising signals and coping tools, eco-anxiety literacy and help-seeking, the practical centre of the programme.

Practitioners will find sample wording, worked examples, suggestions for responding to common situations, and alternatives for different languages, devices and learning preferences. The Resource Book is also clear about the limits of the youth worker’s role: it supports non-formal education and does not offer clinical assessment or therapy. Guidance on safeguarding, looking after one’s own wellbeing as a facilitator, and building a verified local support list is included throughout.

Country notes for Germany, Italy and Serbia help practitioners adapt the materials to their own settings, from locally relevant environmental examples to language considerations and national support services.

What happens next

Once the Resource Book has been finalised, its relevance will need to be tested by youth workers and young migrants. Would you like to get involved?
